GoGo Monster Manga Nominated for LA Times Book Prize
Taiyo Matsumoto's Gogo Monster manga has been nominated for a Los Angeles Times Book Prize in the Graphic Novel category. This is the first year in which the annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is presenting an award in this category. The other nominees are Gilbert Hernandez's Luba, David Mazzucchelli's Asterios Polyp, Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 5: Scott Pilgrim vs. the Universe, and Joe Sacco's Footnotes in Gaza.
Viz Media published Gogo Monster in North America last November. Viz's reissue of Matsumoto's Tekkonkinkreet: Black & White manga had won an Eisner Award in the "Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Japan" category in 2008.
In a separate development, France's Japan Expo has announced the nominations in the Manga categories of its annual awards.
