Sega release new motion control console!

Wait, what?
That's right. Sega hasn't had a real console since the deceased Dreamcast, but here we are in 2010 and the company has stormed back into the console wars with a worthy rival to Nintendo's dominating Wii system. Well, not really, but it is a home console (in a way) and it does have motion control (after a fashion).
The Sega Zone Wireless Gaming Console is one of those silly retro all-in-one deals, packed as it is with twenty classic Genesis titles including Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd and Golden Axe. The interesting thing to note is that an additional thirty games are new, and sixteen of those are motion-controlled with the two packed-in remotes.
To be fair, the games sound a bit rubbish. Just a bunch of sports games like golf, tennis and darts. Basically. Sega made one of those cheap plug-and-play systems, but tossed in a Wii rip-off while it was doing so. You can't even load new games into thing. Worth fifty quid? You decide.
Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands Web site opens
Ubisoft has launched its official Web site for Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands, and yeah -- it's a game Web site.
Right now, there's nothing much there. The trailer that premiered at the Spike game awards is there. There's also some screenshots and some game info, but that's not new, either. In fact, there's very little here of note, unlike the recently launched Japanese The Last Guardian Web site.

Namco Bandai posts huge losses, fires 10% of its staff
Looks like charging obscene amounts of money for terrible downloadable content didn't work out so well.
Namco Bandai has recorded a massive loss of ¥11.7bn (£81.3m / $129.5m) over the nine months ending December 31, after last year recording a profit of ¥9.01 billion (£62.3m / $99.4m). Net sales are down 10.4%, and operating income is down 76.3%.
Even worse is the announcement that Namco will be firing 10% of its workforce, with estimated layoffs numbering 630. The round of firings will be part of a "Group Restart Plan" instigated by Namco Bandai to react to its slipping position.
So yeah, good times are not to be found at Namco's offices today. I'd show some sympathy, but when these guys stop trying to pass off on-disc content and in-game currency as DLC items, I'll demonstrate a little remorse.
