New Nintendo Console? Not Anytime Soon
According to Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway, the Wii's successor is still a long way off. In a recent interview, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing mentioned that a new console from Nintendo isn't likely in the near future. When asked when it will be time for new hardware, Dunaway responded:
"I don't think it'll be anytime soon. Because even though our install base is, at this point, 5 million households larger than the PS2 install base was at the same point in its lifecycle, it still has a lot of room to grow. If think PS2, there's been about 50 million sold. Wii, close to 28 million sold. So, that says to me there's still a big audience out there we can access with Wii."
While that statement may dash your hopes for a next-gen Wii in the near future, it certainly doesn't preclude the possibility of an improved version of the current system. Given Nintendo's history of iterating on its consoles (especially handhelds), there's still a chance we'll see a redesigned Wii with some new capabilities before the next generation of consoles is upon us.

Drench Yourself In New Splatterhouse Screens & Art
Just like any good horror movie villain, as soon as you begin to think that Splatterhouse is down for good, it rises again like a blood-soaked phoenix. It's been quite some while since we heard anything about the Namco Bandai (formerly Bottle Rocket)-developed title, but now we have some gory new screens shots and art to sink our teeth into. Check out Rick in all his hockey mask-wearing, monster-punching glory.
Judging by the screens, you're constantly going to have your fist buried up to the shoulder in the faces of your abominable foes. These mutated enemies are the product of Dr. West's evil experiments, which are now running amok in his dilapidated mansion. Where things get really messy is that Rick's girlfriend, Jennifer, was last seen entering said mansion. This is where Rick's "Terror Mask" will come in handy, allowing him to transform into a 'roided out hulk and maim his way to the love of his life.
Expect Splatterhouse to be available in Q3 of 2010 for the 360 and PS3. Here's hoping the game can dodge a return trip to development hell.
EA Expands Salt Lake Studio For New Project
Electronic Arts is expanding with a new development team in its Salt Lake City location to work on an unannounced "groundbreaking" project.
“We’re truly thrilled to expand into Salt Lake City and what is becoming a growing and dynamic video game development scene,” said Ben Bell, executive producer at EA. “We’re looking to fill several critical leadership positions on an exciting new project.”
EA is moving into a new, larger space to make room for a bigger staff in downtown Salt Lake City, a city already home to the dev teams that work on EA's Littlest Pet Shop and Nerf franchises.

Castle Crashers Coming To PSN, Now With Added Volleyball!
The Behemoth continues to be hard at work on Castle Crashers for PlayStation Network, and fans will have a couple of new surprises in store when it releases.
The biggest addition will be an in-game volleyball minigame. This zany variation on the popular sport supports 8-player matches, local or online play, magic use on the court, and support for every one of your unlocked characters.
The news comes via a recent post at the PlayStation Blog by The Behemoth team member, Emil Ayoubkhan. Sadly, he reports the game still has no final release date.
Are there any devoted Sony gamers out there who haven't yet had the chance to play this hilarious and entertaining downloadable title?

More Valkyria Chronicles DLC Available Today
Last week, Sega announced that the final DLC pack for Valkyria Chronicles would be hitting the PlayStation Store today. It isn't up quite yet, but Sega assures us that we'll see it before the end of the day.
The downloadable mission pack is entitled "The Challenges of the Edy Detachment," and will feature one new mission for each of the game's six unit types (tanks included). If you want to know more about what to expect, check out the spotlights on Sega's blog focusing on the challenges for Jann(ugh) and Marina (the best unit in the game, if you ask me).
Valkyria Chronicles was a fantastic game. If you own a PS3 and haven't played it, you should. Seriously. Then you can join the club of gamers anxiously waiting for the release of Valkyria Chronicles 2 this summer.

Risen Cinematic Trailer Released
Publisher SouthPeak sends along this trailer (below) for the RPG epic. The trailer showcases cinematics interspersed with actual gameplay scenes, and stresses the player choice aspect of the game – which is just as well, since the just-released Xbox 360 port comes up short in the combat and graphics arenas. Still, the world is a blast to explore and player choice isn't just a marketing tagline.
